One of the very disturbing sociological concerns of modern day India is the low percentage of participation of women in the total labour force of the country. Women account to only 27 percent of the total labour force of the country. The importance of women’s involvement in the labour force can be understood in such a way that the International Monetary Fund estimates that if the presence of women in India’s labour force becomes as much as that of men, then it will help in increasing the country’s GDP by 27 percent.

To offer job opportunities to women who are married and willing to work or skilled and looking for jobs, Don Bosco Hospet launched a small scale garments in June 2018. Currently, ten women are employed in the garments and seven others are undergoing customized garment training.
